In the USA they're alled 'Handyman Jacks'. I like 'Jack-all' better. I have owned several. None worked properly. You can see to by how many times AvE had to ratchet his to make it move. Stay away from them indeed.

These freaking terrify me. There was one strapped to the back of a vehicle in front of me when I was driving, and even seeing one just sitting there strapped to a vehicle gave me heart palpitations
