Only issue I've had with the m12s are the 6ah batteries. Lost 3 now. Rebuilt one from a dead-ish m18 battery. Chooches alright now. No smoke yet, tons of m12 goodies mixed in with m18s
the most common failure i hadon those ratchets (beside brush wear on non fuel models, repaired like 10 of them by now) is a metal spring that pushes the contact bar down inside the trigger rusting away and breaking. never had a pcb, mechanics or brushless motor failure just one snapped off 1/4 head.
the damn batteries allways break off their retaining clips.
Are use this exact tool plus of the longer version for work. And my failure mode was the small screws that hold the plastic onto the main part of the drive. They stripped out, and now the plastic casement weevil wobble’s all over the place. In my opinion, they use way too small of a screw to secure that also with no metal reinforcement, it puts a lot of stress on the plastic body.
i love how unapologetically messy your shop is. All these you-tuber work shops that are so damn pristine , makes me wonder if they’re not just a computer algorithm.
I hope you are a very rich man 😊🥰 you deserve a fookin knighthood, it is obvious you have spent your life working hard and learning, i bow down at your knowledge sir 🫡
:35 it’s 2022, I identify as a ratchet and your statement really grinds my gears and I demand you remove your video because I’m offended or I’ll have you cancel cultured from upvoting myself on duplicate accounts on Reddit
Have one its ok but don't like plastic handle if metal went all the way it could be better good electric ratchet battery its self great the way it locks in crap
I just opened my tekton 90 tooth 1/4” drive, and the design uses a shoe that engages 6 or 10 teeth at once. It couldn’t break one tooth. I think the failure point there might be the little piece that holds the shoe with the teeth.
I'm a full time mechanic and I gotta say you can tug on these things real herd. Never break partner. But over time the 4 little screws that affix the plastic housing back out on there own…. not to worry warranty is the same as fapp off
Thing I will never understand, they market this shit alot to mechanics, we use it even allowed the dreaded apprentice near them and they rarely last 6 months will proper use. I've honestly found most of the cordless tools are not up to task for the mechanic workshop setting sadly air tools are the more ideal tool.
Oh and as for what breaks? The magic smoke escapes from most battery tools or they turn into brittle paperweights from the chemicals that inevitably end up on them. Back in the day I had my brand new snap on rattlegun dissolved by an apprentice that tried to clean my tools. Brake cleaner can was empty, so was throttle body cleaner buy hey gasket goo remover works too right?

4 yrs later, let's see the damage!

Would brushless tool be better on a genny? I've heard this.
Can we get the update for this ratchet?
Old school motors easier to repair robust and simple dont need no silicon that ensures obsolesence
