I’m an electrician just recently started using this method it’s great, before for j boxes a little trick I would use- say I needed a 1 inch hole in a 1900 box, I’ll put a 3/4 connector in the hole and then place the wholesaw over it and bam but this works great for everything like holes in the floor etc. 👍

I did this and my smaller hole saw fell through the hole in the ceiling about 20 ft down and almost hit someone in the building I'm working in lol
Save yourself some grief and just clamp a half inch thick piece of wood to the side of the box and that will hold the hole saw. Easy peasy
