They had the 240v/50a outlets labeled with sharpie at the welding shop I started at.
I was swapping to a different plug (from a 3 prong to a 4 prong to move a big welding machine) and had cut off the breaker labeled for that outlet….. I got the old outlet un-wired and, when pulling it out, my screwdriver touched the metal box face on the outlet and bumped the exposed red wire as I pulled it out.
Hottest current I ever took.. had on electrical hazard rated boots and I still felt an ached in my chest afterwards.. only got me for a sec, but I never trusted anything someone else did ever again after that.
Ps; I have no real training as an elechicken, done a few side jobs with a buddy who is one though; however, I know enough to be safe if some moron doesn't label the breaker wrong
I used this tool that came with an Ikea kitchen sink. The bolt broke right half in two before I was done. What a piece of shituation that was. Just saying.
I've honestly learned a lot from you and I'm not even a chicken! I'm just a dad fixing stuff around the coop from which mother hen beckons my attention to certain areas.
I agree 100% to always test the power. I moved into a townhome years ago and it turned out the actual meters were marked wrong. It's too easy to have disconnects, breakers, and panels marked incorrectly.

The chip is "broken in half" from the beginning.
Didn't even occur to me that these may be considered oddball. The more you know.
In idaho we usually pronounce core-duh-lane

Knockout cutters can be rented. First thing I looked at was Red Black Blue.
