TL;DW: PB Blaster is garbage, WD-40 is cheap and effective, Freeze Out is inconsistent, 50/50 is better than nothing. *Exposing marketing BS one VJO at a time!* http://www.Patreon.com/AvE

Liquid Wrench and Starting Fluid (ether) 50-50 mix. Make only what you will use because it doesn't store well. Worked when nothing else would.

Project farm says exact opposite…. More bolts? Different conditions? Who knows? Like you said.. inconsistently rusting?

I think both of you did an awesome job… What else can ya do? Shrug

The problem with ATF and acetone is it can destroy paint

I do not know how accurate your "test bench" is but in a "real garage" PB Blaster has out performed WD-40 and all of the others for decades. So I will keep buying it and using it.

I have a question for everybody.
Does anyone know a good way to get stainless steel bolts out of aluminum?
All my boats have been older models, as are my outboard motors.
I have yet to find anything that helps break a 30 yr old stainless steel bolt out of 30 yr old aluminum.
I work with sizes from say #8 to 1/2".
    Any suggestions would be welcome
    Thanks

WD-40 aka cockroach spray. I'm confused never thought it would work ok. Which one would you recommend? I have brake lines. that need to be free. in order to crack them open.

My dad used to say atf and it's something almost everyone has some. He never added anything else and I don't know what type atf he used, back then I think there was only dextron and type f ???

I didn't know AVE had glassware. Makes me think even more than he could be related to, is, or at least knows The Elemental Maker

I had good luck with PB. But you have to leave it on for a long time. Sometimes days. It loosened up a foot operated rivet setter that had been outside for years.

I've always heard acetone and brake fluid

I repair cars & trucks in Vermont, one of the worst areas for rusted fasteners. Half of my $30k in tools are for extracting rusted and broken crap. I've used dozens of lubricants and concoctions, and I swear by seafoam deep creep. Beats the snot out of anything else I've ever used. Blaster is second best on my list.

Why do you think it is that so many Mechanics swear by PB Blaster?

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chris Woods says:

I mix WD40 with acetone. Works nice!

WD40 is shit, should have tried seafoam penetrant, its the best ever, period.
