Low budget fishing gear is the only way some of us can afford to go after the big ones. My buddy has thousand dollar reels, he doesnโt catch more fish than me and I donโt think he enjoys our outings anymore than I do.
ONE generation ago the same niche reel would have cost 60 to 80 US dollars and was friggin' GEAR. Never as skookum as Mitchell but still a respectable and quite robust item. Comparatively priced accounting for inflagration but nothing like the same robust, "lifetime" device. Very sad when one would rather buy a fifty year old reel and restore it than buy a brand new model but the way of the world I guess.
Never came across this video somehow it was recommended. Here I am thinking I've seen them all
the striker thing that doesn't actuate anything is for harnessing in. that's where you clip on.
I thought it was 316 SS. Good to know they used cheap steel for saltwater.
Nice review. Mine crapped out after pulling 4 30 lb halibuts.
Idiรณta!!
I recognize Chinezium when I smell it. I smell it in every Amazon box and every visit to Hazard Fraughtโฆ
Ed oggi, dopo 3 anni, ancora sta cercando di montarlo come era prima… LOL
I think penns are probably the most user serviceable reels out there lol

Line tie off for rod support on yonder pulling
Definitely not a salt water reel, I'd be seized in one trip even in our fresh water Edisto river here in Charleston, SC.
nothin' impresses the ladies like a noisy clacker!
When ford switched to Philips it saved 30 mins to build a model t off the line. Phillips was designed from the start to cam out instead of break off.
Compare that to those islander or professional reels….if you got the budget and the bearings to take one apart lol
