I mounted a treasured old vice to a new workbench. Some of you enjoyed my introduction to twist drills, here's a follow up. Drilling and tapping in metal. Genuine Steel metal to be precise; it's how vises from a bygone age were cast. Staring: Record Vise No. 3

Put a teat in, then bring your quill down…you touch my teat and I’ll thread your wazoo with a 1/4×20. And don’t even ask what I’ll do if you even get near my quill.

Get yourself a magnetic digital angle gauge and zero it to the surface you are tapping. Place it on the shank of the tap and you want to make sure the tap is plumb while you are starting it by checking the gauge in 2 places 90 degrees radially apart.
You can also just take a nut and thread it onto the tap and use that as a reference so you can keep the bottom of the nut parallel to the surface you are tapping. I did a big machining job on some 2 inch thick plates and I cut threads by hand tapping using the nut trick and I could not get a .002 feeler gauge anywhere underneath those fasteners after I had threaded them in.

If this guy wasn't a master everything mechanical I'd say he should slow down and use some loob. But apparently I have a thing or two to learn. Also. Music. What the hell is even that?

Everything made in cheating scum bag lack of quality control communist China SUCKS except for their vacuum cleaners. Never purchase or use safety or test equipment tools or LED'S from cheating china. Watch China harbor freight brand drill bits. Purchased a pack of 1/8" bits and would only drill thru warm butter. Nice to have an drill index of 135 degree still bits for drilling stainless steel.
