Cosy up to the warm glow of false nostalgia. Old tools are the best. Right?

That was the very first power tool I laid my paws on. It was in my grandfather's workshop.
I had one of those old drills and had a little lathe that it mounted to
old school speed control
That screw is old fangled speed control
We call "Festool" …
Foot-stool at work
Festool ergonomics, price, odd user interface etc make it unusable.
Accurate for some, silly to most.
Sort of the land rover of tools…
Made for the cheer squad of brand loyalists
My Skil Saw, my dad bought in 1960. <so would be same as Porter Cable) A 7" blade. Made for 2 or 3 year before they standardized to 7 1/4" blade. So, 7" saw blade does not exist except on a garage sale. Otherwise the blade is all steel, meaning it has to be sharpened(as it is not Carbide tip) Saw works great. 7 1/4 does not fit. I had a 4" Record vise from England. Held up until the 4 foot cheater pipe was used then it snapped. The 6" from Princess Auto broke within the first year.
I have a Wolf drill similar to the one you featured, the chuck was different with a hex key to open & close the church. It comes with a small circular saw table that the drill mounts underneath driving the saw blade. I remember a small bandsaw with quite small wheels in three places to give a reasonably decent throat. The drill was mounted at the bottom wheel so the bandsaw blade was pulled down through the item being cut. Unfortunately I don't have the bandsaw but I do have the the small table saw and blades. I'd be quite happy to send them to you if you are interested, the problem is fthe cost from the UK to Canada!!
there was "some spring" to the clamshell before you took it apart.. perhaps it was to keep the case apart enough to prevent the braking effect?
“Hey bob, give me your cigarette, I need more felt dampers for this drill.”
Kinda shop smith like with the one does all style cool old tool keep it up Ave
Thanks again!
Black and decker make the matrix, like 10 different tools in one…it's mainly a drill. U should review it
Adjusting the screws was just how you adjusted the speed. And the sparks were to help you light your cigarette. There was never anything wrong with this drill.
I learned on a similar Craftsman way back when…. Grab the short handle with your bottom 3 fingers and hold your index finger down the side of the case. Middle digit works the trigger. Helps keep everything lined up was the theory
Great vidjeos
My brother has one of those drills, he paid a buck for it at a pawn shop
The stator cable looks like it could be rubbing against the rotor on closing the shell
