This is my 200th vidja! Incredible how time flies, still having fun in the shop, still making lots of mistakes so you don't have to and still inspiring Trolls to lob spitballs from the know-it-all-do-nothing peanut gallery.
The matter at hand:
I bust a crappy tap and show how to get it out in the home workshop.
There are many more-or-less effective ways to remove a broken tap. This is the toughest situation, a broken tap in a blind hole. In a thru hole, you can go for the hammer and chisel brute force method.
Sometimes despite our best efforts to the contrary, things don't go according to plan, so we try something else. Surprisingly, that something else works better than the original plan.
Feeling the weight of all those two dollar coins in your pocket? Throw 'em into the hat and we'll make something out of 'em!

Thanks for the video! If you don't have a steady machine to make the hole, especially because the stuck bit is inside the engine hood, can you still use a drill or should it be a dremel ?

That's all OK if the 'work' can be mounted in a drill press/mill.

I've had success with Walton tap extractors. Wouldn't it be sufficient to drill out center to the diameter that reaches the hollow parts of the tap?

Broken taps aren't usually in very convenient spots. Good luck.

Tap extractor tools are good for extracting money from your pocket I have never used one that did not break without even moving moving the tap

It's a hell of a lot easier when you have a drill press to use. I need to remove a tap from a horizontal position.

I see you have a sticker on your tap tool box that says, "Kampuchea".
