I make a copper work surface for the electronics lab. I'll show how to score and cut copper with the help of it's work hardening properties. Then I glue, clamp and laminate the copper sheet onto a plywood backing to make a sturdy work surface.
I burnish the copper to break up the wavy look of the gleaming metal.

The rubber mats are actually megohm resistors that limit the current of the static discharge. The ultra fast high current zap is what let's the smoke out. The rubber mats let the static out real nice and slow so the pixies don't get too angry. 10^6 – 10^9 ohms to ground every 10' of surface is spec.

Get yourself a 1/4 watt megohm resistor between the bench and ground and you should keep them smoke hungry pixies bi@#*s tame.

You shouldโ€™ve taken it to a professional joiner workshop where they put it into vernier press so that it gets compressed evenly.
Itโ€™s also advisable especially with chipboard over such extent to have some stabilizing steal bars or at least wooden ones underneath to keep it from bending/warping over time. Better than chipboard would be quality plywood anyway.
