Linear actuators are compact electrical devices that output high force using simple DC motors and gearing. I'll tear it down and show you what it's good at and why it's terrible in industrial applications.

8 threads per inch on a smaller diameter would result in a steeper inclined plane angle, and thus less clamping force but higher linear speed for the same input, yes?

Hmmm. Maybe. Let's check by turning the screws into wedges. pi D x 8 3.14 x 8 say 25 inches run over 1" rise. vs. 0.5x 3,14 x 8 12 inch run over 1" rise.
Change the torque to force: 1 in lbs / 0.5" 2 lbs on a thin wedge. vs. 1/0.25" 4 lbs on a thicker wedge.
YES, I think you are right. But the final guestimation would turn out as a wash factoring in the friction fudge factor. Thanks for pointing that out!

Great video, I purchase two as a unit complete with a remote & controller. I have one of the Linear actuators is rotating on extend and contracting. Not good what's wrong?

Such a strange way to do math.

I literally had to click through an ad for electric linear actuators two minutes in

The biggest money is in the GET. Bucket tips, cutting edges, heel shrouds etc. Biggest money maker hands down is graders. Mouldboard cutting edges is a non stop source of revenue.

As someone who works In injection molding. (Which you talk about fleetingly but often) I really enjoy you acknowledging every detail of every part. Fuck these filthy casuals who cry about the content you produce

Yep, they are very good. Can't use hydraulics at work, all air driven…… but we eat Elmor drives like they are pizza. Had one replaced 6 month ago, now it's all over the place….. not my money but…..

    Great Vid. . . . As usual 🙂

I need that actuator for my industrial class. All the technologies I teach are comprised in that device.

Hi! I’m working on building a line of tables that includes a electric linear actuator. Are you located in Bay Area, California by any chance? Or do you have any recommendations/referrals for someone who’d like to work on a contract project?

I found some actuators from a medical bed jobber. I was thinking 🤔 and yeah then I stopped thinking. the one eye on the ass end is plastic but somehow its rated to push 10k N …. can a quarter inch of plastic really stand over a couple ton? How is that possible
