Given the jokes has all been writ I’ll add that I’ve seen these destroy stainless hoppers (albeit a longish time) by causing a mess of spider cracking propagating out around wherever they were mounted. We presumed they were essentially work gardening the stainless with the vibrations.
The other thing that would occasionally happen is if the product in the hopper was “rat holed” and blocked the vibratory knockers would pack the material so tight it would have to be chiseled out.
It was much better to design proper mass flow hoppers to start with. ..but sometimes you gotta run what ya brung.
