Ho HO! So you DO believe in the metric system. I've suspected for quite some time that you're in the dial.

While the real machinists argue between Mitutoyo and Starrett, I Power Fist my way through the day.

Until Hexagon messed it up the answer was Tesa, nothing else came close. Now all bets are off.

There is a conjugate non involuted gear. It’s epicyclic. No back lash. Look at the Nexen roller pinion system . Did a project on it. Created a design method for using it create gears. It’s kinda cool .

You may know how to use ‘em, but remember it’s all about the angle of the dangle.

[02/25/22] At school they issued us with some Chinese-made Asimeto instruments. Way better than Princess Auto, but not quite Starrett, or Mitutoyo. Also for price/performance, the Mitutoyo are a better deal because they're NOT as over-priced as Starrett can be.

You know, its' funny. I was a tool and die maker for over fifty years and I never once used the ratchet on a micrometer.

I'm really quite bored now!! – who's bothered about how stuff works, as long as it works??

I bought a legitimate Starrett angle finder to do moulding in an old home. Bought it from a reputable woodworking store for full retail. Ruined several pieces of moulding before discovering the problem. It was made in China. I called Starrett customer service and they confirmed that they outsourced some of their production to China. This included the angle finder that I bought. Starrett has sold the brand down the river (or in this case across the ocean) for a few more dollars in profit and at the expense of American workers. God damn accountants!

How da hell do you git an "S" bend in a dial indicator spindle ?? 🙄😂

Mituyoyo was always my fav back in the day, I also liked Moore & Wright stuff…

    😎👍☘️🍺

An FYI. According to Mitutoyo you were using the calipers wrong. Your standard should be closer to the center of the jaws for accuracy. The ends are subject to warpage and flexing that will affect the measurement accuracy.

The ladies, they never called twice
They'd complain that it didn't "look nice"
    They'd say "it'll do in a pinch
    but you're losing an inch"
So I straightened it out in the vise!
