Skilsaw was recently sold to Chevron (HK) Ltd. a Nanjin based tool manufacturer. I review the build quality, point out the good and the bad. Long term projects here http://www.Patreon.com/AvE

Would they be pricey? Yer damn straight. Would they be built in 'murica? Yer damn straight… we'd bury festool in a year by golly!

How long does the battery last? That's the biggest problem with battery powered tools. They are great with a full charge. But they lose power as the battery weakens.

I got that old motherfucker made of all magnesium, dad sent me 30 feet up a ladder in the rain with no ground lug, taught me how electrosity worked

I believe the the O-ring on the outer race of the bearing is to help prevent the outer race from slipping in the housing. If they press fit everything, your channel would require a bigger vice and more profanity.

On the subject of powersaws, would love to see a non-lame tear down of STIHL vs Husqvarna chainsaws.

I'm in the market for a really strong circular saw for deck work. My dewalt is often getting bogged down. Which do you recommend? The makita?

i think they make an opposite side blade version for the roof cutters who need the miter both ways on hip, valley and jack rafters.

contractor tool shops out west would offer these with a 25' or 50' cord replacement.

try cutting thru an old roof with layers upon layers of tar shingles will smoke a sidewinder. The skil will cut thru the sidewinder and finish the job.

Good and very thorough vid on this saw. I have been wondering why the magnesium version of the 77 is as light as it is, because Mg isn't really much lighter than Al. The amount of Mg in these saws can only account for an Oz or so of reduced weight. It looks like they reduced a couple pounds in other areas. I don't think the think plastic will really prove to be a problem though except for when the saw gets run over or something. My Skillsaw is a late '50s model (model 9) and weighs 20 lbs if it weighs an oz. Now I'm too old to use it as a one handed saw like I did in my younger days, so I am leaning toward the Al version which only weighs a couple more lbs than the Mg.

As a carpenter going on 40yrs, this video was truly compelling! The running commentary during autopsy added to the enjoyment for sure. The legendary worm drive SS’s latest iteration however apparently suffers some quality issues. Disappointing, but not enough to dissuade me from not continuing to purchase a Mag 77.

No comments of my own, how about what the wife said instead?

We watched in the living room:

"does this guy know any other words" "how many more minutes in this video" "ugh I can't stand this guy"
"I can understand why you like these videos"
