It's not bad, but the typical 12V supply cord is shit. It's not cheap enough to be a good deal. Stick with the Haako 888d.

The Hakko 888D is grossly inferior by virtue of being a traditional non-cartridge design. The TS80 and TS100 will be able to maintain their heat even at lower wattages due to better thermal recovery and reaction to thermal loads.

I just rigged one of these to run on my makita batteries, and put a ratchet holder on the battery adapter so I have somewhere to hold the hot iron. Very portable , heats up in ten seconds, and cools faster than normal too. There’s no ceramic waiting to melt stuff if you need to pack up in a few minutes.
I really like the makita power, which you get off Amazon for not much.

My lovely amazing girlfriend just bought one of these for my busy birthday, but it was marketed as an upgraded model. I have a weller 1010 for working at home but these ts100's seem to be the perfect thing to replace my butane torch for working on my freightliner. Gonna work on getting an adapter for my kobalt 24v batteries for working outside on stuff. Like you said though AvE a proper bench station is better but these things in my opinion so far are far superior then butane irons for field work.

Just seeing the big fingers and the dirty workplace, its a mess for this tiny delicate TS100. 😱😱

Mine came with a power supply and silicone wire leading to the iron.
Great field iron as I just plug my lipo batts into it.
Haven’t bought gas for my portasol now and probably won’t for a while.

most honest review about the TS 100 and I appreciate the recommendation for the 88d Hakko. The TS 100 can f right off now

Dude… Ts80! USB C. Solder your boards on airplane if you need from your phones battery pack … Best tool when traveling to shit holes around the world… Or in some other remote area. Go get one and re think your story! 🤪

I love this little thing man. for 20 bucks you can buy a aftermarket clip for lithium tool batteries so you can carry it anywhere, or if you wanna rig somthing up yourself it's got a cult following all over the web of guys that have rigged up power packs with 18650's

How did u get the back plate back on?? I been trying for a hour already I don’t want to break it

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bobbin says:

One of the reasons it is so good is that you can connect it to a lipo battery, in the field, repairing racing drones etc

haven't tried this TS-100, but if you want a full soldering station with fume extractor and hot air reflow, i can highly recommend the Aoyue 968A, it's a solid piece of gear for a reasonable price

FWIW mine came with a power supply and I'm told they can be used with Hakko tips as long as you're willing to put your hand way down close to the board.
