Pull scapes or harvest bubils?
Local garlic is $16.99 a pound! I tested to see what happens if you don't pull the scape.
You get 2 large cloves, and a bunch of bulbils to plant. But overall, less garlic for eating.

As Axel Rose once famously into me. Welcome To the Jungle out here digging the potatoes and I notice that there's some garlic. What went to escape. We even got some seed head.
some bulbules. What the birds haven't eaten, We'll save these. You can plant them next year. You get one big bulb and the following you get a proper bulb.
Those are the seed heads there and there might be potent too. You pop those in like pills. get your garlic in you. Now the question is, if you let them go to seed like that, is the bulb actually smaller? That is the wives tale.
I've heard that you want to pull the scape so that you get proper bulbs. We're going to check that sometimes wives tails, they don't add up. Sure enough, it's a pretty small little bulb. There looks like it's got but the one clove or two cloves.
Yeah, look at that. I'm not nearly as much peeling and you get a whole bunch of bulbules for the next year. I Don't need to tell you fellas, garlic is expensive. Wait, how? I'm six pound, seven,.
Love your out n about talks
There are a few farms that have managed to get some real flowers and cross pollination to make true garlic seed. Not on a level for selling the seed, but enough to develop new cultivars. I found one such breeder in Oregon.
