This will save you from going to the car dealership when the "check engine" light comes on!
Cars have an easy and convenient way to see what that pesky check engine light is telling you. It's called an OBD port used to read DTCs. Sounds EXPENSIVE, right? Wrong! In this vid I cut through the technical bullshit and show you a great tool for maintaining and repairing your automobile. Best of all, you don't even need to get your hands dirty!
If you are a dealership owner or service writer who hates these vids and wants me to stop making them; wink wink nudge nudge:

If it's flashing you do actually need to take it in immediately. The solid light indicates an active code.

That's why the engine light can also flash if the problem is serious 👍

As a stealership mechanic we have no choice but to steal because we get fucked over by everyone. Name another career with 50k buy-in just to be able to make a paycheck

Just becuase it didn't come straight back on doesn't mean the fault is not present. Depends on the trip detection logic. Could be a less serious fault with a two trip detection logic. That seems to be a fault detected by engine map settings ie. It checks the time to heat up the engine and finds a discrepancy in the time it takes to do it Compared to engine load and outside ambient temperature. Could be a sensor issue, wiring, pcm or mechanical like the thermostat. Did you find out what the problem was?

You have to be careful reading the codes. My van threw a code, which indicated I had two bad coils. Nope, it was the spark plug wires.
