It was being dismantled when it collapsed because multiple sections had the pins removed without being supported. Why they removed multiple section pins and why it was not rigged to the support crane remains unanswered.

Root cause of failures is still something so many workplaces ignore.
I was in an Amazon lobby near denny and stewart (approx 1/2 mile away) at the time of the collapse. There was definetely a few minutes of micro burst winds that came through the alley next to the lobby. It was extremely strong winds, strong enough to get my attention and a little concern because it seemed to come out of nowhere. Some things happen for a reason, even tragedies.
Between the tilt up industry and cutting corners on assembly/disassembly of cranes is criminal in my opinion. NO EXCUSE to deviate from procedures.
Maybe a gungho punkin pulled the pins.
Think whole construction industry mess too many idiots and regulations in place now. It’s so unfortunate along with greedy cooperation that have no regard for human life or health.
