DTM 101: Always use your workpiece to support your end mill as you CA glue the collet in place.

    Thanks for posting.
I found an old vidja of some geezer who took a whompin heavy crafstman DP and did this.
I found one on Craigs that some geez is selling and it's in my neighborhood.
I'm hoping to grab it and make an over-winter proj. out of it.
I need a lathe too. Sad that we've fallen so far that we have to do the finish work on shite Chineseium parts.

Just to rub it in a bit more…every so often I pull up this video just to cringe when you destroy that collet holder nut.. and then you super glur the mt into your drill press….what a Canadian lol. Seriously tho…really enjoy your videos…keep it up.

I drilled and tapped for a setscrew- = matching recessed flat on the taper of the Collet Holder- and it stays in . I have a WW2 govt Heavy Duty Table Drill press ( 215 pounds). But I still get Chatter – and Cannot take Heavy Cuts = So going to Pull the Quill off And see if I can take it to a Friends Shop and Drill it Out for a Draw Bar & shorten the Quill end (limited clearance now) Hopefully It will All work out.

Just buy a used round column mill (RF30 31 25 etc) for $500 or so. I see one for sale near me (Seattle) for $600 right now.
Please drop the bloody music when milling. Machinists want to hear the damn tool cutting!

You should delete this video, and any other you've made about machining…you are totally clueless.

You're supposed to snap the collet into the nut first buddy… the eccentric pulls the collet out when you loosen the nut. This is by design in even the nicest of tool holders but then again… there was that one time in summer camp with a dewalt tool battery..
