You would never see beachmarks of a straight pull, because the load was not cyclic. The beachmarks are formed when there is cyclic stress just below ultimate failure, repeatedly. With each cycle the fracture grows a little more, then closes back up until it finally fails. But in a straight pull to failure there is no cyclic effect.

I grew up poor. And still am. So I've learned how to make things. I've kept my family's vehicles on the road by making parts I couldn't afford and fixing parts that should've been replaced. Haven't killed anybody yet, so I must be doing something right
