I answer your questions why I didn't buy a Tormach, or a Mazak, Fadal, Hurco, Mori, Brother. I go over some shitty Haas options you don't need and some you do. Here are other opinions from guys who have sourced a low production CNC mill.

Old video but my man, the Canaderp old boys are still such a thing. Recently had a BC laser cutting place make a rather expensive part for me that came out like absolute shit. When I first saw it and reacted essentially "WTF!?" I got some dinosaurs saying I don't know what I'm talking about, what I want doesn't exist, who cares about surface finish, I'm not a real welder ect. ect. My man, there's more to life than pounding stick in Fort Mac. I make motorcycle frames. The competitors in Washington have made me fixtures within .003 across the whole thing! So .090 and covered in rust for MORE money than the Americans doesn't cut it. Breaks my heart but this kinda shit is what happens almost every time I go out of my way to support local. Sorry hosers, I'm driving to Tacoma next time.
Whats your electrical situation? I plan on putting this on a 100a breaker with a digital phase generator….
Glad to hear you like how the Trinidadian dealt with you 💪🏾💯
When I first started machining (Feb 2022) the Haas salesman sold us 2 machines and spent a full work week with me to teach me the mill and lathe. I have relied on him on many occasions and needless to say I owe him my career.
i just think that the 770mx or 440mx is a decent start… maybe the 1100mx top tier is a bit overpriced, but it does what its supposed to do
This guy is a legend. Gettings from Ottawa.
Haas is ok for a hobbyist, or for shops that can sell stuff with .003” position tolerances. If you want to make parts in a competitive environment, you’ll need a real machine.
Why not a Yasda?
As a person who is building cnc out of harbor freight mini mill, I cannot relate
Smart machine is one that called me back and no preasure
Would be fun Ave if you updated us on how you are doing on the HAAS and what you are making on it.
Best regards, Tobias
We got a Haas DM-2 for our shop. It’s ok. The conversational programming is useless. Oil seeps out of the 10,000 rpm spindle. I’ve been told that’s normal by the sales rep. That auto air gun sucks ass. Our companies owners brother has a similar business and the got a Tormach (against my advice) and they definitely are having trouble running it efficiently . I think the NYCNC videos sold them. I think the Prototrak bed mills are a good middle ground between a Tormach and a full blown VMC. Their conversational is top notch, they don’t kill your back leaning in and out, you can bolt huge / long parts down on the table, and their sales guys are top notch. We’re getting a new one to add to the shop. At about $50,000, they’re about 1/2 what our tricked out Haas cost and with the same spindle taper, the machines can share tooling. I know people bitch about the mess with no enclosure, but your shop is gonna get dirty anyway. With carbide tooling and MQL, you don’t really need flood coolant. I’m gonna hang a curtain around the mill to contain the worst of the chips from say fly cutting. In the past we just stood there with a cardboard box catching them.
Made in America 🇺🇸 thats enough for me.
I have 150k ready to buy a 4 axis haas ignored me. They asked me what im doing. I told them first mistake. They didn’t understand that a guy who needs a million in parts would just make them instead if buying junk that breaks for 1/4. The money. Then they basically ignored me fuckem going doosan
Bro people have to fucking hate your directness. Me i love it.
