Because sometimes, you just want highly pressurized oil.
*Hydraulic Injection is no joke* Google it.

The check valve is built into the zerk fitting

Worked as a sparky in maintenance department for 50 years. Just about every hydraulic system that I came across leaked hydraulic fluid. Even 2 new Green lee hydraulic hand pumps for knocking out holes in panels leaked before they were a year old. Back hack that I ever seen was when one of our mechanics left a deposit in other mechanics cliffs cup. Guy got the portable bread pump on the heaviest grease that was in a 30 gallon grease drum. He installed a few zero fittings and filled the guy mechanics steel tool chest up with the very thick grease. By the time he was done entire box was filled with grease. Took the other guy at least 6 hours to remove grease from inside box and tools.

Seems I’m a bit late to the video but thank you for all the information. I plan to put this knowledge to use directly!

This is about all we're gonna get out of this little guy. . . . he says. Wow, not only was it impressive to see how much pressure you achieved but I was surprised at how fast it got there. When you consider how long it takes an air compressor to hit 150 psi, I'd have thought anything past 500 would be pretty slow going.

Really nice video but Hydra Mac has used Alemite 500 with hydraulic oil to lift the top cover on their Commander 4200 skid steer I think year 1998. I didn't see check valve in line that could be the reason why the grease gun is not pumping.

I have a cat grease gun from the 80's still going strong

Lever grease guns can get more pressure out of em than the pistol type thanks to good ol mechanical advantage. I haven't checked it personally, but there's a resident old fart that insists they can go up over 2500 pissies. He also warns us repeatedly not to over grease excavator swing bearings, lest we blow them apart. Or "pop the top off the excavator" as he would say.

You just gotta be smarter than the grease gun. If you understand pumps and fluid dynamics, you shouldn’t have so much trouble with a grease gun. There is a bit of a learning curve to it but stick around. You’ll get it someday.

I hate to be that guy…… but you need to be smarter than the grease gun in order for it to work.
Once your cartridge is Empty, remove the barrel from the pumping head. ONLY now can you pull back the charging handle.
I usually pull it half way back and let it snap back, which pushes the empty cartridge out to make it easier to get out. Then pull it back and lock it in place.
Pull the cap off new grease cartridge and insert open end first. Now pull off the Tin pull tab. Thread on pumping head. Release charging handle and using the the little air bleed on pumping head purge the air out.
I like to add a 18” extension hose to the regular hose, makes it nice to use.
