My 1/2" Milwaukee Ratchet is falling to bits, so I bought a 3/8"

Shlan welcome back to the shop. Going to do a tear down on the Fuel Long Reach ret just about Christmas Merry Christmas By the way, just about the time Santa slides his dirty black boots down your wife's stove pipe once per anom something like myself on a good year now I had this one I've been using this one steady on the Town Pump CNC and she's getting W she's Loose as a barnyard s in the saddle here and I lost some Fasteners Now that might not be on account of me ripping a Loctite off them, but no, no Loctite on there to speak of. So lost these ones on the pole side or the loosen side. Either there was a field revision or I was mistaken that there is locktite on these tiny fers on the side.

What? I lost off this one I'm not real pleased with the Milwaukee to be quite Frank I prefer the fap off and there's a reason for that. Well, not not just the science of it being twice the price, but also because when you Reef on the queefing end it doesn't split half in Two whereas this guy real real loose and you're always man tangle in that bottom end. One thing I really dislike however, and this is a deal breaker for me and that's why I bought the Milwaukee because if it gets a snap when you're loosening a fener and it goes snap to loosen it auto rotates into the forward position into the Titan so then when you hit the throttle, you bust your knuckel. horrible That way, these don't seem to do that even on the 38.

They don't seem to reverse automatically. a little inside baseball here, but as a testament to the dark aspect of the Saturn Alia AKA Christmas Post Emperor Constantine wanting to control everything and every words. this thing no longer made in Ch China Mexico or friendly Fellows Down South of the Border I Could say that as a filthy frostback self snow Mexicans they call us our tacos aren't quite the same, but just as delicious. Time the done did this.

No grease. Look at the on the side, Not look at this. designed by Milwaukee Tool subsidiary of TTI Industries Talking about some, look at this 38. However, the head is the same size as the half inch.

Supposed to be sized proper wise. For the amount of torque, you don't need that B that material there. Look at this. Here's the 3/8 proper size.

What they're doing is they're cheaping out using all the same components, just swapping out the guts of the drive in order to scr scratch screw you over. You notice the countenance of her red cheaping out with the Dy. It's a different red it used to be not as full sebs over molding, styrene, butene rubberized texturized for her pleasure. Just one little polish spot where the ejector pin kind of got frazzled up right in the middle of your screen.

there. If you your head to one side, you'll be able to see past the glare, following the pixie path. Now on the control PCB board is a Texas Instruments Brushless Motor Driver some Moss fets or some fets of some sort. Passives, bunch of sastic on there.

That's an interesting place to goop that on. These are all surface mount components. There is a bit of conformal coating, but as we saw with the grinder, the handheld tiny grinder 4 in no 2in disc grinder, not enough to prevent the Ingress of water. If it's sitting in a puddle or out in the rain, there's the heat sink for those mosfets and there's a gasket there, a heat transfer pad not just the diaper rash cream markart trigger switch with a low durometer kind of wiper seal in there just to wipe that shaft and the Dingus end? What for locking it? The first blush: As we move towards consummating this contract, it appears as though they don't want us to have a look inside the kimono.
That pin does not drive through, so it looks like it's a oneway only. and that pin dtoe. So is this. Also, the back of the motor shaft is nutted in place, getting the distinct impression that they don't want us in there now.

I Got a rout Now the rear bearing housing, interestingly is metal, and it's quite substantive. Skookum Even one might say y 4 choose metal over plastic. Other than the obvious, that's better. Normally tool manufacturers don't go with better, they go with cheaper minimum viable, so maybe there's something to do with the heat.

In any case, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. It's nice to see some metal parts and it's been machined on the OD as well. Good die casting on that. Lots of details.

This is an interesting bearing. You see that crosssection of bearing there. that's an expensive bearing because it's got tiny tiny tiny little balls. But enough about you my friend, let's try and get into the head of her.

Just plopped out the planetary gear set. It appears as though through that star of ramen biblically speaking, it goes through the shaft and there'll be a bearing here. And a don't want to lose that single planetary gear set. You see that six spine drive, two triangles, one up and one down as above, so below.

Not just for the chosen people anymore, you can see that a big old shaft and then a uh needle roller bearing probably quite wide be the same on the top side. I'm going to remove this what you call it circlip and take out this guts and we'll be able to see that little pin. what actuates. Oh there we go.

Look, look as I actuate, spin my things out. oh and then locks up stiff. Here's the ratchet mechanism. the Paul pinned through, spring loaded and you just either one side or t in order to engage the dogs on the outer ring.

Here, The outer ring. gear and it can ratch It One Direction can't ratch it the other direction. This strikes me as a titty bit scabby because the only difference I would be willing to bet between the/ in version and the 3/8 is how much material they take off this. Square it looks to be the same and the the big beefy gland end here.

for the 38 drive, you don't need the same amount of material as the/ inch. you just don't so you can make it smaller so it fits in better places. This goes in like that, rotates that, this spins back and forth and it only ratchets around the one way. That is why on electric ratchets.
which would be nice is if there's a a switch to go from forward to reverse. But there is no such switch because the switching is done in the mechanically in the ratchet head. So that is why when you're in a tight spot, say you jam yourself up against a machining Vie and you can't get it off. you got to take the Vie off because you can't get your fingers in there to change direction.

not that that's ever happened to me. Interesting manufacturer or rather design on the topend where you're going to be subjected to more kind of canal levered loads due to this pin drivve in the ring gear. there are not one but two. Let's see if we can get in there somehow.

H My Kingdom for a light one and a little bit lower down. two needle bearings and then the bottom side. just the single needle bearing. it's not subjected to that can't delevered pin load.

Let's say we get her back together. Ginger Careful, give her a test, see what for? It's a little goofy here on the fit and finish. you see they've gone and painted this prior to Machining so paint prior to Machining and then the counter sinks on these super deep, overly deep. I would say in order to recess them back or but then you get three textures.

You get the paint, you get the machined raw aluminum, and then you get the black oxide fener. It just yeah. you see how that looks now. I'm no machinist, although I do play one on occasion that makes my eyes bleed I don't even really like the paddle.

What kind of prefer this button? Okay, half a turn fart Let the Smoke Out Oo whisper quiet even goes backwards. Let's give it a test. How many is that? Uh, 14 so far, but this now 21, 21 almost done. How come the screwdriver is pink? That's so nobody steals it? Okay, that was free West Thanks little man.

I can't Hammer them though? I'll do that. can I Go now. Yeah, you can go now. Good.

how'd you do on your time stable? We didn't do it I See, you got it on the back of your hand. 3 * 9 27 Well done. Three * Three Nine good 0 * Three zero Infinity divided by infinity infinity I'm confused. this is going to end in tears.

Okay, well done. Thank you. No I can still do it I'm doing it. See Yeah buddy did I do it.

It's the blue, red and yellow. primary colors. Uh blue, red, yellow? Yeah. I think so one.

MDI at there's our probe. There you go. This is the most expensive thing you'll drive for a while. Hit the X other way, other way other way.

We want the crosshairs in that hole. Too far. too far too far now. Why keep coming.

Keep coming. Keep coming. Yeah yeah, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah. keep coming.

keep coming. Keep It Coming Keep It Coming H Good X Right there. now. What now? I Take the wheel.
No I Want to take the wheel? No way. Let me take the wheel. Hold on. Don't touch anything.

That's our workof set 59 Enter go down to diameter. go 0.5 that's a half an inch Enter hit the cycle smash button. Can you take out the tool Lo and I can look at the Ruby Yeah Yay Me too. Yep.

what if you touch it? What if you touch the Ruby Yeah, it's fine. just don't drop it. It's quite delicate. Brother Bear Stop farting I'm not he Papa Stop farting I'm not farting.

The machine is machine. stop farting see I told you it was pooping it farted gu it was pooping. Come on, come on. come on.

you can do it. Ah, didn't change direction. That's nice. The snap on continually.

every time you got that snap to break the Fastener it would go in forward and you bust your knuckles on these sharp jaws and I show you what I mean Here there's the fap off like a oneeyed kid with a steak. Knife son of a little hair around it. Now when I break this fasten free, it's going to go into forward ready toy. Didn't do it.

There was no cracks so it didn't do it. He give this another try. We got the Nordlock. It's a special kind of washer what got wedges and the wedges are steeper than the angle of the thread so in order to loosen it off, it gives a crack up and over that wedge.

Tighten that right up. Oh, we're going to go Texas Torque here Alabama Lock tight. nothing tighter than stripped, all bouncing on your boy's dick like big money Salvia on those big Pharma influencer checks. Yeah I seen you a you? oh didn't do it I'm having uh well, isn't that always the way? Can't recreate the fault But I assure you what happens.

the Fastener not seized but just stiff and then when it breaks loose, you know how it breaks loose, goes a little snap loose, just enough shock to change this directions, and then when you hit the throttle, cut you all the rat. Now if you're wondering the Snap-on versus the Milwaukee no question. cost-wise you're never going to go. Don't set foot even on the rape wagon cuz you know this is a stickup.

Take all my money. However, cost benefit wise I prefer the battery of the Snap-on and also it doesn't get wallered out. I Do not like the fact that you buy the 38 and it's the same same size head as the half in at least near as I can tell. Same size head.

That's not right. Also, it's built for the size of the battery. In order to contain the battery, it has to be a certain girth. What you'd like to see, however, is a different form factor battery.

What fits right inside this shaft. Two two batteries you know, or three batteries all in a line. Sucked right up in there. and then you don't get this bulky.

it just doesn't it. It just doesn't feel good in the hand. Also, you got to look at how you work these. you run one of these steady all day long.
you to to swap out the batteries. no you do a bunch of Fasteners you set it aside so why don't you have it just on its own? Charger a quei quick qu you know one of them wireless chargers or something cuz you're only doing. but what? Max 20 bolts at a time and then you set it aside. So why do you need to be able to run the whole day? You know it would be nice to have one.

It's more of a regular ratchet form factor. small, stealthy. What else about this? don't? I like paddle switch? ain't so sure. The light is way better I Don't like this clunky looking light here.

Just a chintzy LED I Couldn't replicate the fault. What really drove me nuts: the forward reverse action. When you snap a fastner. it's a sketchier you don't You know this one.

something about the mechanism. It's just a blonde one. tighter or harder to actuate or less prone to switching on you. There you have it.

Merry Christmas Hey, it's going to be a good one this year. A year of the dragon. The fire dragon there going to be a dark aspect, well bringing about lots of good changes. You'll see you're capable.

nobody's going to starve to death. You're going to be okay. just uh. it might get a little rough batting down the hatchets.

spks for watching. Keep your dick in a vice.

Ias a mechanic I have both 3/8 & 1/4 long neck. Two things don't use the 1/4 to break loose tight bolts the drive will shear off the anvil. And watch what your backing the bolt into. Ya may have to remove an engine to recover your ratchet
