Question: is store bought feed bad? Cause, we've been feeding LESS and the hens lay MORE.

I Have a side quest beyond the typical living within your means well enough to enjoy a quiet existence. In The Backwoods of British Columbia. That is to say I can get left the alone. Look at the Bounty of eggs and we research this.

The side quest is I Want to make the best egg on the planet? Do one thing well. we feed them very high quality feed. They get chicken, they get uh garden scraps they get Salmon Oil they get hot peppers. I Shipped a batch of eggs away to NASA's Food Space Safety Administration and these are qualified for space flight and as an addendum they have been classified as grade pretty good by the shop steward.

The ones you get get from the grocery store, even the organic ones. They've been sitting around for 2 months. There's a date on the side of the carton and that is the Gregorian date. The Gregorian calendar is 365 days.

You can convert it and you can see that that egg was laid Nyon 2 months ago. That's the fresh egg that you get in the grocery store. It's not the same and you can see that the proteins and the Egg get denatured and they gross. If you have a farm fresh egg it's not even.

it's not even of the same. Look at this. Look at this, you can't even compare. I Got a buddy with a restaurant here in town I Go and get the scraps.

They get people food and they've been feeding less and less and less of that bag stuff. We've never had so many eggs. The H are getting older. we don't call our old hens, we just let them age out.

They they're yeah. they're like beautiful babushkas in the herd, you know. I Consider myself somewhat of a Rancher maybe 80 head of the finest laying hens this side of any words. Why are we getting so many more eggs Now that we've dialed back on the store-bought feed? What is going on? Is the store-bought feed that bad? We're buying the expensive stuff.

the best stuff you can get from a reputable outfit. it's based in the Netherlands. It's the best stuff you can buy, but we dial it back. You get twice as many eggs.

This is a it's it's something going on man. I Would like to know if you have ever had the same experience. Is it the soy in the bag feed? Is it the seed oils? Is it who? Yeah, What's your experience? Please let me know cuz we're drowning at eggs.

Naturally colored eggs for Easter. Can you tell what hen laid the egg by it's color?

Throw some feed down, then throw a mouse down. What the chickens go after first tells you all you need to know about a chickens diet. That foods you're getting from your bud, I bet it's more protein than anything else. And all the other stuff that isn't protein is likely to be more complex, thus more variation in minerals and vitamins, than feed. In my experience, chickens love meat, they love table scraps, and they do better when you feed them varied meals rather than the same crap day in and day out.

As a Dutchy I will apologize for our expensive feed, we are much better at growing flowers and tomatoes and machining parts than we are at herding any kind of animal… No man can compete with nature, unless you want to fight the sea…. Then you might need a Dutchy😂

The best eggs I've had were from my neighbor's hens. They were fed free choice wheat, milo, and oats. Straight from the combine and kept in barrels.

Our girls are on pasture, cracked corn, kitchen scraps and 3 cups of pellets. Egg production is spot on even my old hens are keeping up and they're 4 years old.

Do you give them meat scraps in the kitchen scraps as well? I have 20 hens and were trying to figure a way to feed them healthy and cheap too
